Pearl Man Receives 30-year Sentence for Gratification of Lust Involving two Minor Children
Madison and Rankin Counties’ District Attorney Michael Guest announced today that Brian Harris Porch received a 30-year sentence after he entered a plea of guilty to two counts of Gratification of Lust. Porch entered his guilty plea at the end of the first day of his trial.

Child Molester Receives Two Life Sentences plus Twenty Years
Madison and Rankin Counties’ District Attorney Michael Guest announced today, following a three-day trial, the verdict for convicted child molester Joseph Cook. Cook received two life sentences plus 20 years for sexual battery and directing or causing a felony to be committed by a person under 17 years of age.

Man Receives 60-Year Sentence for Armed Robbery and Aggravated Assault
Madison and Rankin Counties’ District Attorney Michael Guest announced today that Javier J. Adams pled guilty to the crimes of armed robbery and aggravated assault. Adams entered his plea of guilty on the morning of his trial. Adams has been sentenced to 60 years in prison. The last 30 years of his sentence was suspended. He will be required to serve the first 30 years of his sentenced without the possibility of parole or early release.

Madison and Rankin Counties’ District Attorney Michael Guest announced today that Lyndon Myers was sentenced last week and received a 45 year sentence after a jury found him guilty of three counts of armed robbery, conspiracy to commit armed robbery and possession of a firearm by a convicted felon following his trial in November.

Madison and Rankin Counties’ District Attorney Michael Guest announced today that following a three-day trial Jonathan Scott Keen was convicted of capital murder of Kerry Prisock. Keen was sentenced to life in prison without the possibility of parole.

Madison and Rankin Counties' District Attorney Michael Guest announced today that Walter D. Burton pled guilty Monday for the capital murder of 37-year-old Leslie Sheppard Doame. He will receive life in prison without parole. Co-defendant Jermaine A. Tyler pled guilty of the same crime in April 2012 and received life in prison without parole.

Madison and Rankin Counties’ District Attorney Michael Guest announced today that following a two day trial, Robert Floyd McGuire was found guilty for the murder of his longtime girlfriend, Lynda Tate. Following the verdict of guilty by the jury he was sentenced to serve a term of life in prison.

Man Pleads to Statutory Rape and Sexual Battery Involving a Five-Year-Old Child: Receives 41-Year Sentence
Madison and Rankin Counties’ District Attorney Michael Guest announced today that Challis Lewis received a 33-year sentence after pleading guilty to the statutory rape and sexual battery of a five-year-old girl. Lewis is required to serve his sentence day-for-day in prison without the possibility of parole or early release. In addition, he is required to register as a sex offender upon his release from custody.

Johnson received an 80 year sentence; the last 45 years were suspended, after entering pleas of guilty to ten counts of business burglary and one count of possession of a firearm by a convicted felon. He also received five years of supervised probation upon his release.

Two Violent Criminals Receive 50-Year Sentence Following Kidnapping at the Walgreens in Madison
Madison and Rankin Counties’ District Attorney Michael Guest announced today that Rashun Johnson and Jerome Van, Jr. plead guilty to armed carjacking, armed robbery and kidnapping and were sentenced to 50 years in prison. They will serve thirty years in the custody at the Mississippi Department of Corrections without the possibility of probation, parole or early release. The last twenty years of their sentence were suspended.

Three Latin King Gang Members Convicted in Violent Assault Madison and Rankin Counties
District Attorney Michael Guest announced today three members of the Latin Kings street gang were convicted for their involvement in the kidnapping and aggravated assault of Zachariah Henley.  The Latin Kings are one of the largest and most organized street gangs in the United States and have just recently begun to organize and recruit members in Mississippi.
