Al graduated from the University of Southern Mississippi with a B.S. in Political Science in 1973 and from the University of Mississippi School of Law in 1976. He is a member of the Mississippi Bar, the Bar of the United States Court of Appeals for the 2nd, 5th, and 9th Circuits as well as the Bar of the United States Supreme Court.
Al has served as a City Court Prosecutor (Columbia, MS), County Attorney (Tishomingo County), an Assistant District Attorney for the 15th and 20th Circuit Court Districts of Mississippi, as well as an Assistant United States Attorney. While in the U.S. Attorney’s Office, he was Lead Attorney for the Organized Crime and Drug Enforcement Task Force for 13 years and, later, Chief of the Civil Division for more than 7 years. Al retired from the U.S. Department of Justice on November 30, 201, and began working as a part-time Assistant District Attorney for Rankin County on December 30, 2013, where he currently is employed.
His current assignments are embezzlements, false pretenses, felony bad checks, and tax evasion. He is married to Sharon, who has been the Office Administrator for the District Attorney’s Office since 1993.
